The calendar just clicked over to August, so you know what that means, don’t you? It’s almost time for the kids to head back to school. Depending on your kids (and your level of sanity), this could be either a good thing or a bad thing.
But one thing’s for sure. Now is a great time to schedule their twice-yearly checkups at Alliance Dental Care in Fort Worth, TX. Dust off their back-to-school smiles – get their routine teeth cleanings and exams out of the way before the hectic school year begins. Once band practice, soccer practice, and other after-school activities start, it gets harder and harder to find time to do everything.
Call Dr. Karr and our team today at 817-985-3077 to schedule appointments for your kiddos. You’ll thank yourself later for taking care of it now!
Regular Exams Uncover Potential Smile Damage
So, you might be asking yourself, Why do kids really need to see the dentist twice a year anyway?
That’s a very good question, and one that we are asked pretty often. There are several good reasons why your children should visit Dr. Karr every six months for checkups.
Kids are notorious for not keeping up the best oral hygiene. Not many kids brush or floss as often as they should without some prodding Even then, sometimes it’s hard to tell if they’ve done an adequate job or not.
That’s why we need to check their teeth regularly. Lack of proper brushing and flossing can lead to plaque buildup, which can lead to cavities. Left unchecked, cavities can eventually reach the soft inner part of the tooth.
At this point, a root canal may be needed to save your child’s tooth and avoid extraction.
But we’re getting way ahead of ourselves here. Simple dental exams and cleanings on a regular basis will go a long way toward preventing those kinds of problems.
Dr. Karr’s trained eye, along with our cutting-edge dental equipment (like low-radiation digital X-rays and intraoral cameras) will catch tooth decay before it has a chance to damage young teeth.
But, if he doesn’t get the chance to examine your children’s teeth very often, he won’t be able to stop decay and disease.
Let’s hope that no cavities show up during your kids’ checkups, but if they do, we can place a discreet, natural-looking filling – sometimes in a little as six minutes!
The SonicFill™ system uses a composite filling material that is 84 percent quartz. It will match your child’s tooth color and doesn’t contain any metal at all!
But your kids are probably old pros at brushing and flossing, so they most likely won’t have any cavities at all, right?
Teeth Cleaning Keeps Kids’ Smiles Bright
What is a dental checkup without a good teeth cleaning? Nobody wants to have yellow, discolored teeth, and kids are no different.
Beautiful, pearly white teeth help anybody feel better about themselves, especially kids who are often subject to extreme scrutiny by their peers.
Our dental hygienist will give your child a thorough teeth cleaning to rid their mouth of harmful bacteria, plaque, and tartar. We will pay special attention to areas that your kid might miss at home with their toothbrush. Nobody’s perfect when it comes to brushing – especially young children.
Plus, with our intraoral camera, your child (and you) will be able to see exactly what we see inside their mouth. You’ll be up close and personal with their teeth and gums.
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, using some of the most advanced dental tools available, you will get words a-plenty from our detailed exam.
Your kiddo will leave our office grinning with that great I’ve-just-had-my-teeth-cleaned feeling. They may not even want to eat junk food anymore for fear that they’ll get their teeth dirty (Don’t hold your breath on this one, though).
And if for some reason your teen’s teeth are badly stained and normal cleaning doesn’t sufficiently brighten them up, we offer Philips Zoom DayWhite teeth whitening as well. Just wearing the whitening trays for 30 minutes a day at home will have their teeth gleaming in no time!
For your convenience, we offer both early morning and evening appointments. You can work your child’s appointment around your busy schedule! We are open until 9 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus we open at 7 a.m. on Thursdays.
